WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) - Police have arrested four teens on unlawful mischief charges, saying they’ve been linked to 86 vandalism-related crimes in Vermont this year.
Police said car tires were slashed, vehicles broken into and BB guns fired at businesses and other buildings in Chittenden County, including the federal building in Essex Junction. WCAX-TV reports (http://bit.ly/HnegWs) shots also were fired at cars on Interstate 89 and two cars were struck. There was at least $20,000 in damage from the vandalism committed in January and February.
Police said they arrested the suspects after following up on a car seen leaving 1 of the crime scenes. They range in age from 16 to 19.
