
Education marches and rallies are taking place in most big cities of Greece at the moment. There are calls for marches in Athens, Thessaloniki, Larisa, Rethymno, in Nea Erythrea to the house of the PM and elsewhere. The public transport and taxi drivers’ unions are on strike until tomorrow morning while some civil servants unions have called for a 3-hour stop of work in solidarity to the strikes and demos today.

16:30 GMT+2 The demo left Amalias av. and through Georgiou A st. turned on Syntagma Sq. where students and teachers discuss about carrying out an assembly on the square. There is a profound presence of riot police in the area.

15:30 GMT+2 At the moment Several thousands of students, teachers and some union people are marching in the centre of Athens from the refectory of the University of Athens on Panepistimiou st. towards Syntagma Sq. The head of the demonstration is on Stadiou st. while the tale still in front of the Refectory. The demonstration paused for a quarter of an hour on Stadiou st. where riot police units went too close to the protesters and the demo stopped chanting: ‘Out of the demo the police’.
