SEATTLE – A Bank of America branch in Columbia City was damaged overnight when someone tossed an incendiary device at the business, Seattle police said.
At about 9:45 a.m. Thursday, bank employees arrived at work and discovered a broken window and burn marks on the side of the building, located at 4825 Rainier Ave. South, said Seattle police spokesman Jonah Spangenthal-Lee.
Police were calling the attack an “attempted arson.”
Spangenthal-Lee said it appears a gasoline-filled bottle struck and scorched the side of the bank, but the fire did not spread or cause extensive damage to the business.
The incident was investigated by officers and agents from the Seattle Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
No suspects have been identified.
