Police officer assaulted while attempting to break up fight — Dayton, OH

A Dayton police officer was allegedly assaulted while he tried to break up a fight.
Police said the officer was on his way to a grand jury hearing at the courthouse on Thursday when he saw two men fighting near the corner of Fourth and Main streets.
The officer told the men that he was police officer and was able to separate the men. However, as he walked away one of the young men came up behind the officer and punched him, police said.
The juvenile was taken into custody and is now facing a felony assault charge.
The officer was not seriously injured.
