Fire Cells Conspiracy text about A Guerrilla Signal documentary

The video A Guerrilla Signal has recently been made accessible via the Internet. It chronicles the activities of the Fire Cells Conspiracy by using the group’s communiqués alongside images culled from the mass media. The video was first shown in Thessaloniki on April 15, 2011 during a workshop organized by the Anarchist Assembly for Subversive Action. An improved version then debuted on December 8, 2011 at the Nadir Anarchist Social Center in Thessaloniki. The video is in Greek (here, and since there might be problems with the link, we will let you know when a better one appears), but subtitles may be added in the future. In any case, the following is a brief text written by the Fire Cells Conspiracy to accompany one of the screenings:

Images subjugate meanings and then people, turning them into spectators. The language of the image is a superficial language that produces mediated, artificial emotions. The challenge placed on the table here at this screening by the comrades who selected these instances of Fire Cells Conspiracy action is to liberate meanings from the yoke of images. Behind the fires at banks and car dealerships, behind the intoxicating vapors of dozens of liters of gasoline, behind the joy of assembling a device with a delay timer and the destruction of the enemy’s buildings, behind the weapons and bullets, the decision taken by a few people is the most important thing there was and is—the decision to stand beside one another as true comrades in order to turn the world of order into an antiquated ruin. These people are each one of us, each one of you who dare to live dangerously and take risks for freedom. There, where everything is possible.

Mao Zedong said:

It is good if we are attacked by the enemy, since it proves that we have drawn a clear line of demarcation between the enemy and ourselves. It is still better if the enemy attacks us wildly and paints us as utterly black and without a single virtue; it demonstrates that we have not only drawn a clear line of demarcation between the enemy and ourselves but achieved a great deal in our work.

We, the Fire Cells Conspiracy, from the prisons throughout which we have been dispersed, send a revolutionary greeting to today’s screening and a guerrilla signal to the comrades who are going to watch this documentary about our brief but intense history with the eyes of perpetrators, not spectators. Because these comrades know that hidden actions are often the most genuine. When we learn that such actions have taken place, we feel we are discovering brothers and sisters we’ve never met. The most beautiful thing is that not even the spectacle’s projectors can manage to assimilate them, nor can the judges’ robes manage to suppress them. They are acts of explosion, fire, and sabotage that carry the pure message of a new revolution experienced continually here and now. Because the war never stops.

Long live the new urban guerrilla war.

LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTION.
