Solidarity with the NO TAV struggle from anarchists of Trento and Rovereto (Italy)

This is the text of a poster that was fly-posted in Trento and Rovereto (northern Italy) in solidarity with the people arrested on 26th January following a police operation against the NO TAV movement in the Susa valley.

MORE VALLEYS LESS MONTI

(Monti is the current Italian prime minister, but the word also translates as ‘Mountains’).

Repression can’t stop the struggle

In the early hours of Thursday 26th January a massive repressive operation led to the search of 52 people all over Italy, 26 were jailed and a dozen submitted to various restrictive measures, from house arrest to bans on leaving one’s place of abode and bans on staying in Turin. The charges – resistance to the forces of order, violent disorder and causing serious damage – refer to the resistance against the eviction of the Free Republic of the Maddalena on 27th June and to the mass storming of the TAV blockhouse on 3rd July.

Solidarity in Val Susa has been united, with numerous other initiatives all over Italy: gatherings, spontaneous demos, actions against the press, and occupation of stations and premises of Trenitalia [Italian Railway Company] are being carried out from Palermo to Turin, from Cagliari to Trento.

This repressive attack is not simply a clumsy attempt at dividing the NO TAV movement into the good and the bad, or a test to verify its response in case of other arrests. This operation unleashed by police, magistrates and mass media is a message to all those who are struggling, particularly at a time when the Monti government is being attacked from many fronts.

Therefore, if it is necessary to react strongly against repression, it is also necessary to re-launch and radicalize the practices of struggle, which this repression wants to hit.

As many of us wrote and repeated: ‘In those woods, behind those barricades, in front of those enclosures, we all were there. We have started together and will come back together’.

Many didn’t come back on 26th January.

We want them all free. Now.

To Juan – our friend and comrade now jailed in the prison of Trento – and to all the others our full solidarity.

SOONER OR LATER THOSE ENCLOSURES WILL COLLAPSE
FROM BLOCKADE TO BLOCKADE, FROM REVOLT TO REVOLT, FREEDOM WILL TRIUMPH OVER THE MARKET
AND LIFE OVER DEATH
