Women protest alleged killing of man by soldiers

HUMAN and vehicular traffic were disrupted for hours in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, when more then 100 villagers, mostly women from Nkpuma in Afikpo South council area, demonstrated over the alleged killing of one Aluma Amadi and the wounding of three others by soldiers believed to be on the Operation MESA team.

One of the protesters, Sunday Agbanu, told journalists that the shooting of Amadi by the soldiers followed a minor misunderstanding between some Fulani and farmers in Nkpuma village, whose crops were damaged by the herdsmen’s cows.
