FIRES DAMAGE FACTORY FARM UNDER CONSTRUCTION

In an e-mail sent to the German Press Agency, the ALF claimed responsibility for fires early Saturday, October 8 that damaged a broiler farm under construction in the town of Mehrum (Peine). Several small fires were extinguished before causing extensive damage. In the e-mail the ALF warned: "To all farmers we advise: Stay away from factory farms! They burn easily...."

Police are investigating a possible connection to the July 16 fire that destroyed a new, empty broiler farm in the nearby town of Alvesse.
