Solidarity with Wixarika People- February 7th

The Wixárika people, an indigenous people, in Mexico are up against the Canadian First Majestic silving mining company and Goldcorp mining company to protect their land and traditional sacred sites of the Real de Catorce mountains.

The Mexican government has allowed First Majestic the legal space to mine in the Wixárika's lands and communities. This coordination makes the Mexican state complicit in the destruction of the Wixárika way of life and land. The State and capital interest always lie in that of the destruction of non-assimilated communities and undeveloped land, so there collobration should come as no suprise.

The Canadian capitalists of First Majestic and Goldcorp are notorious as neocolonialists entering indigenous lands all over Latin America. Canada harbors the most active and destructive mining companies and activity in the world.

On February 7th, there will be mass mobilizations in Mexico City and Vancouver, B.C.

Coordinated responses in other cities for February 7th are always possible.
