After 10pm yesterday, Wednesday December 21st, a group of 8 comrades who traveled in three white vans set fire to a barricade on Av. Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins 2690 (at the corner of Rodulfo Philippi) in the Central Station neighborhood. After sitting fire to the barricade, they proceeded to attack a branch of BancoEstado located nearby. The bank ended up with its windows shattered and with an ATM burned.

There are two versions of what really happened. One says that the individuals threw a fire extinguisher full of explosive which blew up. The other, more accepted, version is that a molotov cocktail was thrown onto an accelerant that had been poured inside the place, which caused damages to the windows and a loud bang that was heard by the neighbors for several blocks around.

In any case, at the end of the action, all the attackers–who dressed in black and were hooded–fled the place without the police being able to follow their steps.

It is not know if the objective was to rob the ATM.

Chile: Ataque explosivo-incendiario contra BancoEstado

Pasadas las 22:00 horas de ayer, miércoles 21 de diciembre, un grupo de 8 compas que se movilizaban en tres camionetas blancas encendieron una barricada en Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins 2690 (esquina Rodulfo Philippi) en la comuna de Estación Central. Luego de prender fuego a la barricada, procedieron a atacar una sucursal del BancoEstado ubicada en el lugar. El banco resultó con sus ventanales trizados y con un cajero automático quemado.
Sobre lo que realmente ocurrió, hay dos versiones. Una dice que las individualidades arrojaron un extintor relleno con explosivo que fue el que estalló. La otra, la más aceptada, es que fue lanzanda un cóctel molotov sobre un líquido acelerante rociado dentro del local, lo que provocó daños en ventanales y un fuerte estruendo que fue captado por los vecinos a varias cuadras a la redonda.
Como sea, al terminar la acción, todxs lxs atacantes -que vestían de negro y estaban encapuchadxs- huyeron del lugar, sin que la policía les pudiese seguir los pasos.
No se sabe si el objetivo era robar el dispensador de dinero.
