FREEDOM FOR VEGAN ANARCHIST OSMAN EVCAN!

Osman’s demands have been met by the prison authorities in December 2011. He gave up the hunger strike, now currently is recovering from the strike.

He sends his best wishes to you all, and is grateful for all your support and solidarity!

Osman Evcan is a Turkish anarchist vegan prisoner.

He sent us a letter from prison in August 2011, and told us about the problems he was having in prison for being vegan.

He had already petitioned to demand vegan food but the prison administration did not respond, and did not seem to care. They sent him some vegetarian meals but they were too bad to eat, and contained some sticky additives he said in his letter.

He is now at Kırıkkale F-type High Security Prison (Room No: B-8). He demanded vegan meals many times but each time the authorities did nothing. So he has been boycotting and not accepting the meals that they make in the prison kitchen, he is buying meals with his own money. Also, he was told “the doctor is in an operation” and sent back to the prison three times. When he can enter the surgery, law enforcement officers enter with him too and keep him handcuffed. It must not happen this way. He also reported that there usually are not many vegetables/fruits at the prison canteen. They restrict it. He wants us to help him now.

He is on hunger strike since November 4th until his demands are met!



And, write to him to support him (he doesn’t speak English though) and/or send protest letters to the prison administration. In addition to that, we invite you to write protest letters to the Turkish consulate in your country.
