Anti-Diaz March in Solidarity with the Oakland Commune! All Cops are Bastards!

This Saturday at 4PM at 23rd and Union indepedent members of Occupy Seattle are organizing a rally and march that calls attention to police violence and specifically calls for Diaz's resignation. An anarchist analysis of the police as a totality of repression and a tool of the State is key.

However, this is also a chance to call attention and act in solidarity with our comrades in Oakland who have been enduring police harrassment around the Oakland Commune/Occupy Oakland for the last month. Many Oakland rebels still sit in jail.

Please come prepared with anti-police anarchist fliers, banners, flags, etc!

The following flier explains the situation a bit more:

Solidarity with the Oakland Commune/Occupy Oakland!

The rebels of Oakland have created the space in their city that fosters the revolutionary spirit and action. Occupy Oakland has always stood against the police and all politicians choosing instead to stand for freedom and rebellion. It comes as no surprise that both the City and the Oakland Police Department have attempted to crush them. Yet, the Oakland Commune has continued to choose an offense as their best defense against the repression of their movement.

In the last month their has been dozens of arrests but in return their has been several actions taken by the Commune, from the rowdy recent anti-prison demonstration to the now weekly 'Fuck the Police' marches. At each action people take to the streets, fight the cops, and redefine space in downtown Oakland. In Seattle, we see our struggle reflected in that of our comrades in Oakland, from antagonisms with the police to reclaiming space, we share the common goal of total freedom and recognize those who stand in our way.

Fuck the OPD//Fuck the SPD!

The Occupy Seattle General Assembly has passed the following resolution, here in part:

"In consideration of the Seattle Police Department’s systematic use of excess force on the citizens of Seattle, its violent and unnecessary repression of nonviolent protesters and its disproportionate targeting of the most disenfranchised members of society, whether they be people of color or simply people without houses, Occupy Seattle hereby calls for the resignation of John Diaz, Chief of the Seattle Police Department and the prosecution of all officers found to be repeatedly engaged in misconduct..."
