Protesters clash with police in Istanbul
Protesters have clashed with police during a protest in Istanbul denouncing Turkish air strikes in northern Iraq that killed 35 people.
The Dogan news agency says police used tear gas and water cannons on Thursday to disperse stone-throwing protesters demonstrating near the city’s main square.
Dogan agency video footage showed some demonstrators smashing glass panels at a bus stop and others throwing stones at a police vehicle.
There was no immediate information on injuries or arrests.
An official says Turkish warplanes aiming for suspected Kurdish rebels hiding in Iraq killed 35 people, but most are believed to be young cigarette smugglers.
