Police deploy armoured vehicles against looters in Clapham Junction

Dozens of police in riot gear fought running battles with delinquents wearing fancy dress masks they had looted from a fancy dress store on Lavender Hill.

Youths in venetian masks and a green wig hurled abuse and projectiles at police who responded by charging them with an armoured vehicle.

Earlier, around 150 looters ransacked shops on adjacent St John’s Road for over one hour before police vans arrived.
