On the evening of Friday August 26th, a small demonstration of 50-60 anarchist students took place in the neighbourhood of Goudi, Athens, where the university’s vice-chancellor Pelegrinis resides. The demonstration came in response to Pelegrinis’ approval of the police operation to evacuate the squat Conteiner at the Zografou campus, only hours after the Parliament had voted to repeal the Academic Asylum.
Meanwhile, students have called for their general assemblies in tens of departments across the country this week. The two main universities in Athens (NTUA and UoA) have already postponed their exam dates by a week to allow for these assemblies and it is expected that many of these will decide for student occupations, commencing the student struggle against the most recent education reform law.
