“We’re Killing Everybody We Can,” Seattle Police Declare
Copies of fake newspaper front pages mocking Seattle police were inserted into the display windows of some Seattle Times news boxes Tuesday.
The mock newspaper also included photos of a woman and a baby above the words “shot dead.”
The location and extent of the tampered news boxes was not immediately known, according to Jill Mackie, The Seattle Times’ vice president of public affairs.
“It is a serious concern when anyone tampers with a news box,” Mackie said in a statement, “but it is particularly troubling to have our brand, one we take very seriously in terms of accuracy and fairness, involved in an individual or group trying to make a point.”
The fake newspaper page follows several protests against the King County prosecutor’s decision last week not to charge Seattle police Officer Ian Birk in the fatal shooting of woodcarver John T. Williams.
