Attempted arson at Olympia police substation

OLYMPIA – An arsonist is on the run after attempting to set fire to an Olympia police station Wednesday morning.

Flames scorched a wall outside the back door of the west-side police substation at 200 Perry Street Northwest around 3:30 a.m.

No one was hurt.

KIRO 7 spoke to an Olympia police dispatcher who said the fire burned a three-and-a-half by four foot area.

This is the second time this facility has been hit by vandalism in less than two weeks.

On March 5, someone broke a large window at the station and damaged two parked patrol cars. One of the cars had all of its windows smashed, the second had three busted out.
