Bombing at civil courthouse in Santiago, Chile

A thunderous roar followed the detonation of an explosive device at 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday at the corner of Avenida España and Calle Toesca in downtown Santiago.

The bomb exploded in front of a building that houses a number of civil courtrooms, destroying several large windows but causing no injuries.

The Carabineros’ Second Precinct is located a few meters from the site of the explosion.

GOPE personnel arrived on the scene in order to conduct an initial investigation into the damage caused and the composition of the explosive device.
